Benefits
The scouting program has three specific objectives, the “Aims of Scouting”. They are character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Each trait is of equal importance. Scouting activities, in addition to promoting these aims, are meant to be fun. If it’s not fun, it’s not scouting.
Troop 89 is a boy run troop so you will plan and run troop activities. Troop 89 uses the patrol method. You and your patrol will work together on rank advancement, planning campouts, and cooking meals. You will learn leadership skills, earn Merit Badges like robotics, archery and kayaking and have a great time at summer camp.
Involvement
Scouts may get involved in the troop in many ways aside from their everyday participation. There are many leadership positions available to both new and experienced scouts which will encourage interaction with the troop and leadership growth. Scouts in leadership positions may participate in the patrol leaders’ council.
