Boy Scouts provides your son with programs and activities that allow him to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence and develop character. Scouting helps your son develop academic skills, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that he can use now and later in his adult life. But scouting also provides you benefits as well. It allows your son and your family time to spend together, strenghthening your relationships. It allows you to share your talents and be a positive influence in his and other scouts lives. It provides you with the opportunity to improve your communication, leadership and decision making skills while helping scouts succeed in their advancement. You can meet other parents, build friendships and give back to your community.Expectations
Parents are expected to:
- Actively follow their Scout's progress and offer encouragement and a push when needed.
- See that the scout attends each meeting in uniform with scout book.
- Assist in all Troop fundraisers, this assistance lowers the cost of programs to scouts
- Provide Scouts with transportation to and from camping and other troop activities
- Read the Troop 89 Organization and Policy Manual
- Show support to both the individual Scout and the Troop by attending all Troop Courts of Honor
